dance if you have feet

Lisi and I went to Bill T Jones performance at YBCA last night. I have to say although it was a interesting performance, I didn't get it. Am I lame? The lighting was good the sound was ok, not great there was some fuzz and the vocals were a little hard to hear, the video was really good, but I didn't get it. There was a narrative that was good although what the narrator was talking about did go with the dancing. I don't know, I am just not a dance person. Did I fall asleep you say? Well, maybe a little. The best part of the night though was the dinner before at Nordstrom Bistro Cafe with our friends C n F. There was talk about lesbian bed death and how many couple have it, when does it occur, and at what age. It was a stimulating conversation that took us right up to curtain time. The food was good, the company was pleasant, and the performance was entertaining. I love it when a plan comes together, don't you?

Step into it

I work with the public and while I was in the washing my hands I overheard a woman say something to the effect that step parents are expected to do the work and not have any in put. As their conversation faded from my ear I thought: that's so true. Being a step parent is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. The woman in the restroom was right. We as step parents are expected to pick the kid(s) up from school, take them to the dr, dance, sports or whatever, but when it comes down to it step parents have no say in discipline, rewards, or activities. The kids are running the parents and the step parents have to just grin and bare it. We, as step parents, are to be seen and not heard. Isn't it funny how that used to be what kids were supposed to do.

Ear shot

I just wrote a not to everyone what sound would you be if you could be one. That's a good question. I don't event think I could come up with an answer. Can you? I was listening to the city and heard many conversations but didn't hear any of them. That brings me to the realization that I really didn't want to actually "hear" what they were saying just the sound that they made. There were high pitches of women and children, some folks were on the phone. Just a buzz of conversations that don't make sense. Eavesdropping comes to mind and how my wife loves to do it. She will actually hush me to listen to some dinner party we are sitting near. Really now that is a little much. But like many people she does it and shamelessly I might add. I rarely listen to conversations just the sounds they make. Whether it is a hum, roar, or buzz I listen to the waves and shrills of them. that's what I do I listen with a Queer's ear.

Another day

Well, as you can see I haven't written for 10 minutes each day but I have been sitting in front of my computer a lot. What happens to a person when they are let go from a job that they have been at for 30 years? It's hard to imagine working for that long not to mention being laid off after all the a time. I have only worked at a place for 12 years and I found that mundane. It seems to me that there could have been something done to save the position but that's me. Personally I would be devastated, that is if I could hang out there for that long. I met this man yesterday that actually found his grandfather in a book at the museum store. He is the president of The W Foundation . It is a non-profit that foundation for space education. It seems there is an event called Navy in Space held every year Oct 11-12 @ Fort Mason and he was my father in law to be part of it. I hope I can come up with other things to write because as I read this it is pretty dismal. Hehe . L and I went...

Each day?

I got from a friend of mine that she writes each day for 10 minutes. How could one do that? So I think I am going to try it. I wonder if sitting in from of the computer for 7 minutes counts. I am updating my other computer and I can see right now that writing for 10 minutes each day will be challenging, but I am going to do this for a little while and see where it goes. Maybe I will do sound stuff for 10 minutes that would work. We'll see how it goes.
