Step into it
I work with the public and while I was in the washing my hands I overheard a woman say something to the effect that step parents are expected to do the work and not have any in put. As their conversation faded from my ear I thought: that's so true.
Being a step parent is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. The woman in the restroom was right. We as step parents are expected to pick the kid(s) up from school, take them to the dr, dance, sports or whatever, but when it comes down to it step parents have no say in discipline, rewards, or activities. The kids are running the parents and the step parents have to just grin and bare it. We, as step parents, are to be seen and not heard.
Isn't it funny how that used to be what kids were supposed to do.
