Eating Cultures YUMMY!!!

Welcome to Eating Cultures AAWAA and APICC I got off early from work to help out AAWAA and APICC set up for the event and met some of the artist. Anticipation was high, as the crew put the finishing touches on the gallery and set up the POP UP Shop. Shari Arai deBoer and Cynthia Tom   Shizue Seigel and Susan Almazol set up Pop Up Shop The place was a buzz with excitement, as we started to hang the signs and clear off workers tables.  Cynthia is one of the hardest working women I know. With her guidance and support all of us had tasks to do.  The press preview was from 4-5pm and we finished setting up and cleaning just before the press arrived The Pop Up Shop had items made by the artists. I didn't bring or make anything for the shop , but some of the artist did and the shop looked great with jewelry, posters, postcard, comics, as well as mini paintings and textile work. Just outside the Pop Up Shop was the table a...

EATING CULTURES and I GOES ON THE AIR

Image
Man have I been busy!! Sigi Arnejo and David Perry on the set of 10 Percent. I will be on 10 Percent with David Perry on Monday 4/28  at 11:30 am and 10:30pm Channel 104 on Comcast and it will run to May 2nd. It will also be on Youtube about a week after it airs.  10 Percent is the longest running LGBT TV show in Northern California.   I had a blast doing it and David is so nice.  I have to say having to put make up on was a little off putting but the make up artist (who I forgot her name SORRY) was sweet and hot I have to say. Really put me at ease, I even let her put mascara on me.  Yup I know.. don't say it. Once I was "made up" I hung out with Michael Micael who dresses so smartly. He had a yellow sweater on with a blue shirt underneath and a blue and yellow bow tie. What a joy it was to talk to him about Filipino food.   THANK YOU DAVID and CREW!!! Also on Monday at 1:00pm on KPFA 94.1fm Kate Raphael interviews Kay Cuajunco and Gene...

ON KPFA

I was interviewed today by Kate Rafael on   !! What a gas that was.  I forget how cool it is to be on the radio and how much I miss it. Kay Cuajunco was there, she has a film "bibinka"in the exhibit, and Genevieve Erin O'brien and many pieces in the show. We spoke about what our pieces mean to us and how it relates to the Exhibit and how our being gay plays a roll in the event. We were there for only a little while but I think it went well. Kay seems very nice and Genevieve is way smart and I would like to meet her since she did a phone interview. Luckily it will be edited.  I hope she keeps the Kitchen Top part in.. You'll have to listen to find out what that is.

Sigi on Comcast 10 Percent

Just got through taping with David Perry for 10 Percent on Comcast. What a trip it was to have make up put on and be on TV. They will be showing my piece in the show. I felt pretty nervous about the whole thing but I think I did ok. It will air on Comcast Channel 104 Monday at 1130am and 1030pm. This is the longest running gay show on the air, David told me. It was a thrill to be on. I met David a long time ago at a Betty's list event and have seen his name pop up every now and againg. Wednesday I will be on KPFA at 7pm for an interview. WOW What a rush this has been. Looking forward to doing it.
